Total Solar Eclipses in the Next 10 Years

Please note: There will be other solar eclipses between these dates, however we have only included the ones which are practically visible for the average person. Hence, the following total eclipses are not in the middle of the ocean or too close to the horizon, so you have a pretty good chance to see them if you happen to be in the area when it happens.

Total Solar Eclipse in August 2026

  • August 12, 2026: Visible from Iceland, Spain, and parts of North Africa.  (path map) (interactive map)

Both Madrid and Barcelona are just outside the area covered by the total eclipse, although the northern outskirts of Madrid are just covered. If you stay in these cities, you may want to drive a bit (roughly 50km) towards the centre line of the eclipse for the best experience. Other major cities, such as Valencia and Zaragoza are well within the total eclipse area.

Good news: the islands of Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca are well within the total eclipse zone too, indeed Majorca is bang in the middle of it! However, these islands will experience the eclipse just before sunset, so it's best to find a vantage point with a good view to the western horizon.

Besides Spain, the totel eclipse will be visible from the western part of Iceland, including Reykjavík.

  • August 2, 2027: Visible from Morocco, Spain, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Somalia.

Spain is lucky: this is the second total eclipse less than a year after the previous one. This one will be visible in the southern part of the country, such as Málaga, Marbella and Gibraltar. The total eclipse will be visible from major African cities like Tangier in Algeria, the southern part of Tunisia (but not from Tunis or Hammamet) and Luxor in Egypt.

  • July 22, 2028: Visible from Australia and New Zealand.

Just as if by design, Sydney will fall into the middle of the total eclipse area. Huge chunks of New South Wales, Queensland, the Norhtern Territory and Western Australia will be covered too, but why go elsewhere if you can go to Sydney? In New Zealand, a huge part of the South Island will be covered.

  • March 20, 2034: Visible from Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia.
