BBC Proms 2026 — London, July 2026

The **BBC Proms** are the world's largest and best-known classical music festival, an eight-week marathon of concerts staged mainly at London's **Royal Albert Hall**. Founded in 1895 and run by the BBC, the Proms combine top-tier orchestras, conductors and soloists from around the world with an unusually democratic spirit: standing tickets in the arena and gallery, sold cheaply on the day, mean anyone can hear world-class music for the price of a couple of coffees. The atmosphere is both grand and informal, and it culminates in the flag-waving, singalong spectacle of the **Last Night of the Proms**.

## What to expect

The 2026 season runs **17 July to 12 September**, with dozens of concerts at the Royal Albert Hall plus performances at partner venues elsewhere in the UK. The programming ranges across symphonic staples, new commissions, choral works, chamber concerts and themed events, with the **Last Night on 12 September** as the season's rousing finale. Beyond the main hall, the Proms also stage relaxed and family-friendly events across the run.

Booking opens well ahead for reserved seats, but the cheapest way in is **"Promming"** — standing tickets released on the day; arrive early to queue, especially for popular concerts and the Last Night.

The Proms are centred on the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington, London. From Heathrow Airport (LHR), take the Piccadilly line Underground direct to South Kensington or Gloucester Road, each about a 10-minute walk from the hall; the Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express to Paddington are faster alternatives. High Street Kensington (Circle/District lines) is also close. The hall is a signature walk through Kensington Gardens from several stations. For the famous same-day Promming (standing) tickets, join the queue outside well before the doors open.
