Gregory Town celebrates Eleuthera's famous sweet pineapples with a pineapple-eating contest, a 'pineathalon', Junkanoo and pineapple everything.

Gregory Town on Eleuthera was once the pineapple capital of the Bahamas, and each June it throws a two-day party in honour of the fruit. The Pineapple Festival packs the settlement with food stalls turning out pineapple tarts, pineapple rum drinks, pineapple everything, alongside live Bahamian music, a Junkanoo rush-out, craft vendors and a genuinely competitive pineapple-eating contest.

The signature event is the 'Pineathalon' — a swim, run and bike race — followed by the crowning of the festival's royalty. It is a small, warm, local affair rather than a slick tourist production, and all the better for it. The 2026 festival runs 5–6 June.
