▸ About this event

See fiery, world-class flamenco at Corral de la Morería, Madrid's legendary tablao where the greatest dancers have performed for over sixty years.

Corral de la Morería is widely regarded as the most famous flamenco tablao in the world. Opened in 1956 in Madrid's atmospheric La Morería quarter, it has hosted the greatest names in flamenco and drawn everyone from royalty to Hollywood stars to its small, intense stage. For travellers who want to experience flamenco at its finest rather than a watered-down tourist version, this is the benchmark: raw, technically breathtaking dance performed just a few feet from your table.

An evening here is built around the tablao tradition, where singer, guitarist and dancers feed off one another in real time. Expect thundering footwork, sudden silences, wailing cante and the crackling tension that makes live flamenco so gripping. The room is deliberately small and dimly lit, so every stamp, clap and turn lands with force, and the artists change the mood from mournful to explosive within a single number.

Tips for going

There are usually a couple of shows per evening, and they sell out, so reserve online well ahead and confirm whether you're booking the show with drinks or the full dinner experience in the adjoining restaurant. Arrive in good time to be seated, as latecomers can disrupt the intimate room. Seats near the stage give the best view of the footwork. Dress smart-casual, keep phones away during numbers, and hold applause for the natural breaks the performers cue.
