▸ About this event

Long Island's big sailing weekend — Bahamian wooden sloops racing off Salt Pond, with music, food and a full shore-side festival.

The Long Island Regatta is one of the Bahamas' major Family Island sailing events, staged off Salt Pond on the island's calm western bank. Fleets of traditional Bahamian wooden sloops race across several classes while the shore hosts a full festival of rake-and-scrape and Junkanoo music, Bahamian food stalls, and the reunions and homecomings that make these regattas as much social occasion as sport.

It typically falls in late May or early June; confirm the exact 2026 dates locally, as they move with the holiday calendar. It pairs well with a trip to nearby Dean's Blue Hole and Cape Santa Maria Beach.
