▸ About this event

WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 runs 25 July–8 August, a citywide celebration crowned by the Canal Parade, plus concerts, a human-rights conference and street parties.

In 2026 Amsterdam hosts WorldPride, the roving global edition of Pride that lands in a different city each time and turns it, for a fortnight, into the centre of the international LGBTQ+ movement. The Dutch capital is a fitting host: the Netherlands was the first country in the world to open marriage to same-sex couples, and Amsterdam's own Pride is famous for the one thing no other city can copy — a parade not down a street but along the water, as decorated boats thread the 17th-century canals before crowds packed onto the banks and bridges. WorldPride weaves that signature spectacle together with a serious programme of human-rights advocacy.

## What to expect

Running 25 July to 8 August, the fortnight blends celebration and activism: a Pride Walk and Pride Park open the festival, street parties fill the centre, and the Canal Parade is the visual centrepiece, followed by mainstage finale events, a Unity Concert and a WorldPride Village. A WorldPride Human Rights Conference anchors the advocacy side. Most outdoor events are free; some concerts and the conference are ticketed.

Expect enormous crowds, especially on Canal Parade day, when central bridges fill early and public transport is busiest — arrive early, travel by tram or on foot, and check the official programme for each event's timing and location.

▸ Getting there

How to get there

WorldPride events sprawl across central Amsterdam, with the famous Canal Parade winding through the Prinsengracht and city waterways. Fly into Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), then take a direct train to Amsterdam Centraal — around 15-20 minutes and very frequent. From Centraal, the centre is walkable, or hop on trams 2, 12 and others toward the canal belt and museum quarter. Expect extensive road and bridge closures and packed trams on parade day, so travel early and get around on foot once you're in the canal-ring area.
