About Compass Cay & Its Nurse Sharks

Compass Cay is a small private island and marina in the northern Exuma cays, best known for the nurse sharks that congregate around its dock — habituated, docile bottom-dwellers you can wade and swim among in warm, clear, shallow water. It is a regular stop on Exuma powerboat day-trips, usually paired with Staniel Cay, Thunderball Grotto and the swimming pigs at Big Major Cay. A small landing fee is charged, and the cay keeps its low-key, castaway feel with a handful of cottages and a beach bar.
