Hope Town (Elbow Reef) Lighthouse

<p>The red-and-white-striped lighthouse standing over Hope Town harbour on Elbow Cay is an Abaco icon and a genuine rarity: built in the 1860s, it is one of the very last hand-wound, kerosene-burning manual lighthouses still in operation anywhere in the world, its light turned by a weight-driven mechanism a keeper still cranks by hand. Visitors can climb the tower for a sweeping view over Hope Town's pastel Loyalist cottages and the Sea of Abaco. It was restored after Hurricane Dorian.</p>
