About Lucayan National Park

Lucayan National Park on Grand Bahama protects a stretch of one of the longest charted underwater cave systems on earth — you can descend wooden stairs into Ben's Cave and Burial Mound Cave, where Lucayan remains were found, to see the freshwater pools below. Boardwalks cross mangrove creek and pine 'coppice', and a trail leads out to Gold Rock Beach, whose vast rippled low-tide sand flats — 'the welcome mat' — appeared in the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
