The Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana)

<p>The Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana) is one of the world's steepest standard-gauge railways, climbing twenty kilometres and almost 900 metres from the fjord village of Flåm up to the mountain junction of Myrdal on the Bergen line. In under an hour it passes waterfalls, spiralling tunnels and near-vertical valley walls, pausing at the thundering Kjosfossen fall where a folk performance runs in summer. Regularly rated among the most beautiful train journeys on earth, it is the rail leg of the classic 'Norway in a Nutshell' route.</p>
