About Hardangervidda National Park

Hardangervidda is the largest mountain plateau in northern Europe and Norway's biggest national park — a vast, treeless expanse of tundra, lakes and gentle fells between eastern Norway and the Hardangerfjord. Home to one of Europe's largest herds of wild reindeer, it is crossed by the scenic Oslo–Bergen railway and threaded by long-distance hiking and cross-country ski routes between staffed huts. Bleak, beautiful and elemental, the plateau is a classic Norwegian wilderness for summer walking and winter skiing.
