Nordkapp (North Cape)

<p>The North Cape (Nordkapp) is a great slate cliff on the island of Magerøya, long billed as the northernmost point of mainland Europe — a windswept plateau above the Barents Sea marked by a steel globe monument and a visitor hall. In summer the midnight sun never sets here; in the dark months it is a place of polar night and, on clear nights, the aurora. It is genuinely remote — a long drive north or a coastal-ship call from Honningsvåg — and the appeal is as much the journey and the edge-of-the-world feeling as the view itself.</p>
