<p>Rondane National Park, Norway's first (established 1962), protects a range of rounded, scree-clad peaks and high reindeer plateaus in the eastern mountains. Ten summits top 2,000 metres, cut by deep valleys and glacial lakes, and a network of staffed hiking huts makes it a classic Norwegian trekking landscape — the mountains that inspired painters and Ibsen's Peer Gynt. Gentler and more accessible than Jotunheimen to the west, it is prime country for hut-to-hut walking and spotting wild reindeer.</p>
