Trolltunga

<p>Trolltunga ('the Troll's Tongue') is a slender shelf of rock that sticks straight out from a mountainside about 700 metres above Lake Ringedalsvatnet, near Odda in the Hardanger region. The photograph of a walker perched on its tip is one of Norway's most shared images, but earning it means a serious 20-plus-kilometre round-trip hike that takes most of a day across high, exposed plateau. The scenery — glacial lake, sheer drop, big sky — is extraordinary, and the effort keeps the numbers in check.</p>
