Mostnica Gorge

<p>The Mostnica runs down from the Voje valley into Bohinj through a gorge about two kilometres long, and where Vintgar is a boardwalk spectacle this is a forest path — quieter, free-flowing and easy to combine with a longer walk. The water has drilled the limestone into potholes, arches and narrow slots, and the most photographed of them, seen from the right angle, looks exactly like an elephant lowering its trunk to drink; it is known simply as the Elephant.</p><p>The walk starts at the Devil's Bridge above Stara Fužina and can be extended up the Voje valley to the Mostnica (or Voje) waterfall, which drops around 21 metres at the valley head. Done end to end it is one of the best half-day walks in the Bohinj basin, and a good deal calmer than anything near Bled.</p>
