Cobungra Slope is the modest downhill trail served by the Cobungra Platter poma at Dinner Plain, an alpine village high on the Bogong High Plains near Mount Hotham. It is a genuine outdoor snow area, but a very small one: the single gentle run suits absolute first-timers and children finding their feet, while the real draw here is the network of groomed cross-country trails and snowshoe routes fanning out from the village. Snow is natural and seasonal, so conditions vary from year to year and cover is best in the depths of winter. The mood is relaxed and family-friendly rather than sporty, with easy access to Dinner Plain's timber lodges and cafes. Serious downhill skiers head the short distance to neighbouring Mount Hotham.
