The resort
Set in the northern reaches of Kosciuszko National Park, Selwyn is Australia's quintessential beginners' and families' snow field, deliberately gentle where its bigger Snowy Mountains neighbours are steep. Rebuilt and reopened after the 2020 bushfires, it offers wide, forgiving slopes, a large network of surface lifts and one of the country's most popular snow-play and tobogganing areas, all at prices well below the marquee resorts. There is no on-mountain village, so it functions as a day resort for families driving up from the surrounding towns. As a Southern Hemisphere field it operates in the Australian winter, and its modest elevation means it leans hard on snowmaking to guarantee cover.

How to get there
Canberra (CBR) is the nearest gateway, within a few hours' drive, and the usual air arrival point for the northern Snowy Mountains.
