Manzherok is a modern all-season resort in the Altai Republic of southern Siberia, set above the scenic Lake Manzherok and rapidly expanding into the largest ski area in the Altai. Après & vibe

The après mood is relaxed and family-oriented rather than raucous, centred on comfortable hotels, cafés, spas and lakeside walks. Evenings lean towards good food, wellness and Altai hospitality rather than late-night clubbing.

The resort

Manzherok sits in the foothills of the Altai mountains near the village and lake of the same name, a short distance from Gorno-Altaisk. It is a purpose-built modern resort in the middle of a rapid transformation, with new gondolas, groomed pistes and hotels appearing across the hillside. The setting is genuinely beautiful, looking out over forested ridges and the still waters of Lake Manzherok, and the whole place has a clean, contemporary, family-focused character. It feels like one of Russia's most ambitious new mountain projects still finding its full stride.

Come for polished, modern facilities in a strikingly scenic corner of the Altai. Manzherok suits families, beginners and intermediates who want reliable grooming, comfortable lifts and a calm, wholesome atmosphere, along with travellers keen to combine skiing with the wider Altai's nature, lakes and spa culture. It is ideal for a gentle, good-value mountain break away from the crowds of the Caucasus.

The Siberian-Altai winter is cold and snowy, giving a long season of dependable cover on largely north-facing, well-groomed slopes. Snow tends to be dry and cold, and the resort's youthful piste network and snowmaking keep conditions consistent even between falls. The mountain is still growing, so much of the terrain feels fresh and uncrowded.

Skiing & terrain

Beginners

Gentle, well-groomed lower slopes and nursery areas make this an excellent place to learn.

Intermediates

Cruisy blue and red pistes suit intermediates looking for relaxed, scenic laps.

Advanced

Terrain for stronger skiers is still limited but growing as the resort expands upslope.

Experts & off-piste

Dedicated expert steeps are modest; experts come for the scenery and the calm rather than extreme lines.

The Manzherok gondola

The resort's modern gondola is its centrepiece, whisking skiers and sightseers up the mountain with sweeping views over Lake Manzherok and the surrounding Altai ridges. It runs year-round and is a highlight in its own right.

Lake Manzherok panoramas

The resort is defined by its outlook over the lake and forested foothills below. Framed viewpoints and open pistes make the scenery a constant companion, and the setting is a large part of the mountain's appeal.

Altai spa and wellness

Manzherok pairs skiing with the Altai's strong wellness tradition, with hotels offering spas, saunas and thermal-style relaxation. It rounds out the resort's calm, restorative character.
