Sisismut Solbakken

Solbakken is a genuine little outdoor ski hill just outside Sisimiut, on Greenland's west coast just north of the Arctic Circle. It is among the largest of Greenland's handful of ski areas, which still means a modest single lift and a short, honest pitch rather than a resort. The draw is the setting: cold, dry Arctic snow, a long winter-into-spring season, and a slope that doubles as the town's community hill for local families and visitors alike. Sisimiut is also renowned for cross-country skiing, home to the gruelling multi-day Arctic Circle Race, so the wider valley offers far more terrain than the alpine slope alone.
