The resort
Rising above the pretty village of Bayrischzell in the Mangfall mountains, Sudelfeld is one of the largest resorts in the Bavarian Alps and a mainstay weekend escape for Munich. Its terrain is gentle and generous — rolling, sunny pistes strung along a series of grassy shoulders that suit families, beginners and cruising intermediates far more than thrill-seekers. Sitting at relatively modest altitude, it has invested heavily in snowmaking to keep the season dependable. The atmosphere is classically Bavarian and unhurried, with cosy huts and easy access making it more about a good day out than a big-mountain adventure.
