The Giant's Causeway, the Causeway Coastal Route and Belfast

Diliff / Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA 3.0)

Compact and dense with headline sights. The Causeway Coastal Route runs from Belfast up past Carrickfergus, the Glens of Antrim, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Dark Hedges to the Giant's Causeway's 40,000 basalt columns — Northern Ireland's only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site. Belfast anchors it with Titanic Belfast, the Cathedral Quarter and the murals; the Mournes rise in the south.

Best time: May–Sep for the coast; year-round for Belfast
