About Valencia

Valencia invented paella — and the version eaten here, beside the Albufera lagoon where the rice grows, bears little resemblance to anything you've had elsewhere. The city's other invention is Santiago Calatrava's futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, a masterpiece of white concrete rising from a dry river bed. Spring's Las Fallas festival — giant satirical sculptures burned at midnight — is one of Spain's most spectacular events.
