▸ About this event

Sydney Harbour's world-famous New Year's Eve fireworks, launched from the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

Sydney's New Year's Eve is among the first major global celebrations to greet the new year. On December 31, 2026, fireworks launch from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House forecourt and harbour barges, with a family-friendly display around 9pm and the main midnight spectacular. Foreshore vantage points at Circular Quay, the Rocks and Mrs Macquarie's Point draw huge crowds, and the bridge typically features a lighting effect and waterfall.

▸ Getting there

How to get there

Fly into Sydney Airport (SYD), around 8 km south of the centre. The fireworks are centred on Sydney Harbour, with prime viewing at Circular Quay, the Opera House and the Royal Botanic Garden. The Airport Link train runs directly to Circular Quay station in about 15-20 minutes, the closest stop to the harbour foreshore. On 31 December many vantage points fill and close early, some require ticketed entry, and stations near the harbour can become exit-only once crowded. Trains run all night, but arrive well before evening to claim a spot.
