Vivid Sydney 2027

Vivid Sydney is a free after-dark festival of light, music and ideas held across the city each autumn-winter. The 2027 edition runs May 28 to June 19. Highlights include the Light Walk of illuminated sculptures and building projections around Circular Quay, the Rocks, Barangaroo and Darling Harbour, plus a music program and talks series. Installations typically switch on from 6pm nightly, drawing large crowds to the harbour foreshore.

Vivid Sydney lights up the harbour foreshore, centred on Circular Quay, the Opera House and The Rocks. Fly into Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), around 8 km south of the city. The quickest route in is the Airport Link train from the domestic or international terminals to Circular Quay in roughly 15 to 20 minutes, changing at Central if needed. Circular Quay station sits right in the middle of the light installations, with the walk to Barangaroo and the Botanic Garden displays taking a few minutes. Evenings get very crowded, so tap on with an Opal card or contactless payment and consider arriving before dusk.
