About Jostedalsbreen & Nigardsbreen Glacier

Jostedalsbreen is mainland Europe's largest glacier, a vast ice cap in western Norway feeding dozens of blue glacier arms down into green valleys. Its most visited tongue, Nigardsbreen, reaches almost to a milky glacial lake in the Jostedal valley, where a small boat and a short walk bring you to the ice for guided glacier hikes across crevassed blue seracs. Protected within the Jostedalsbreen National Park, it is Norway's premier place to walk on a glacier — a shrinking one, and all the more striking for it.
