About Museum of the Viking Age
<p>The Museum of the Viking Age on Oslo's Bygdøy peninsula — the rebuilt and greatly expanded successor to the old Viking Ship Museum — houses the world's best-preserved Viking ships: the Oseberg, the Gokstad and the Tune, excavated from burial mounds around the Oslofjord, along with sledges, carvings and grave goods. The original museum closed in 2021 for a major rebuild; the new museum, roughly three times the size, is planned to reopen in late 2027.</p>
