The snow centre
Habri is a small outdoor ski area in the Middle Atlas near Ifrane, Morocco's alpine-styled mountain town amid the world's largest cedar forest. It is genuine hillside skiing rather than an artificial slope, but a minimal one: a single lift and a short run on open slopes above the treeline, used by locals and day-trippers from Ifrane and Fez when snow allows. Alongside neighbouring Michlifen it is one of the modest ski spots that give this cedar-covered corner of the Atlas its winter character. The mood is unpolished and improvised, a novelty of skiing in Morocco more than a developed resort. Snow at this altitude is thin and short-lived, so the area only comes alive after a good cold spell.
