Après & vibe
This is the social hub of Krasnaya Polyana, with the pedestrian Gorky Gorod town packed with restaurants, bars, hotels and the resort's casino. Evenings are the busiest and most varied of the three sectors, from long dinners to late nights.
The resort
Formerly known as Gorky Gorod, Krasnaya Polyana Resort completes the trio of connected ski areas above Sochi alongside Rosa Khutor and Gazprom. Its defining feature is the tiered, purpose-built alpine town on the valley floor, a colourful pedestrian streetscape of hotels, shops and restaurants that gives the resort an urban, holiday-village energy. Gondolas rise from the town onto forested and open upper slopes, with pistes suited to cruising and a mountain that feels bright and accessible. More than the skiing alone, it is the atmosphere, dining and the presence of Russia's mountain gambling zone that set it apart. It is where visitors come as much for the town as for the slopes.
Go for the full resort-town experience: convenient skiing wrapped around a lively pedestrian centre with the best concentration of restaurants, nightlife and entertainment in Krasnaya Polyana. It suits groups, couples and those who want an easy ski day followed by a buzzing evening, with the added draw of the casino and the ability to roam onto the neighbouring sectors' terrain.
The season peaks in the deep-winter months, when the upper slopes hold their best cover and the town is at its most festive. As part of the coastal Caucasus, lower elevations can be milder and conditions changeable, so the higher terrain offers the most reliable skiing while the town below buzzes regardless of the snow. Fresh falls freshen up the tree-lined runs and lift the whole valley's mood.

The upper mountain holds cover reliably through the core season, while the low, sea-influenced base is milder and more variable; snowmaking supports the lower pistes and the town-level runs.

Skiing & terrain
Gentle nursery slopes and easy runs above the town make early progress comfortable.
Broad groomed pistes on the mid and upper mountain give intermediates the bulk of the enjoyable cruising.
Steeper sections and off-piste in the trees add interest, though the resort leans towards accessible terrain.
Experts will find off-piste after fresh snow, but the surrounding sectors offer more sustained steep challenge.
Gorky Gorod town
The tiered pedestrian town is the resort's signature, a bright, alpine-styled streetscape of hotels, restaurants and shops rising from the valley floor. Wandering its levels, riding the internal gondolas and dining out are as much the point as the skiing.
The mountain casino zone
Krasnaya Polyana is home to Russia's mountain gambling zone, with a casino at the base town. It gives the resort a distinctive after-dark draw unlike anywhere else in the country's ski scene.
Linked Krasnaya Polyana skiing
From here you can range across the wider Krasnaya Polyana area, with the marquee vertical of Rosa Khutor and the quieter Gazprom sectors both within reach. The town makes a lively base for exploring all three.
