About Levoča
Levoča is a small walled town in the Spiš region, centred on a long market square lined with burgher houses and arcades. Its Gothic church is known for a very tall carved wooden altar, and the Historic Town Hall, the old monastery and an exhibition hall make up a compact museum trail run by the Spiš Museum. The medieval town walls survive, and the town is part of the same UNESCO listing as Spiš Castle.
Levoča works as an overnight base for the castle, the Spiš plain and the wider east, and it has more calm than the Tatras resorts. A day is enough for the square and museums. Visit the Spiš Museum page for current hours and combined tickets that include more than one site.
