How to get there
Puerto Montt's El Tepual (PMC) is the main regional gateway; from there travellers drive north to Osorno and then up Ruta 215 to the national park.
A drive from Osorno up the winding Ruta 215 and mountain road into Puyehue National Park, which can require chains in heavy snow.
Best time: The Southern Hemisphere winter and spring, roughly June to October, with the deepest cover typically mid-season.
