Après & vibe

Part of a 150-acre outdoor sports centre, with a relaxed, family-and-groups atmosphere.

The snow centre

Southampton Alpine Centre is a dry ski slope tucked into the trees at the city's large Outdoor Sports Centre in Bassett, Hampshire. It runs on artificial matting rather than snow, with a main slope, a nursery area and a dedicated tubing run served by button lifts. The venue is built around lessons, family days out and casual sessions, with the steepest pitch working out roughly at an easy red grade, so it suits beginners and improvers far more than experts. Because the surface is artificial it operates year-round in almost any weather, making it a handy place to learn or stay in practice between mountain trips. Alongside skiing and snowboarding it offers donutting and sledging for groups and families. This is a training and recreation venue, not a snow resort.

The slope

Beginners

A nursery slope and lessons make it a good place to start.

Intermediates

The main slope's easy-red pitch gives improvers something to work on.

Advanced

Terrain is short and gentle, so advanced skiers will find it limited.

Experts & off-piste

Not an expert venue.

Snowtubing runs

A dedicated tubing slope adds an easy, fun option for families and groups alongside skiing and snowboarding.
