Après & vibe

An on-site cafe and the centre's other activities, including tubing, round off a visit.

The snow centre

Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre is a dry-slope venue on the wooded flanks of Robinswood Hill on the edge of the city, and one of England's largest artificial-slope complexes. There is no snow here: skiers and boarders ride on dendix matting, the brush-like plastic surface long used on British dry slopes, which means the slopes run year-round in all weathers. Alongside its main, trainer and nursery slopes it offers snow-tubing and other activities, and it has a strong tradition of racing and lessons, nurturing generations of local skiers. It suits beginners, families, freestyle boarders and anyone wanting to train or keep in practice between mountain trips. The tree-lined hillside setting gives it a pleasant outdoor feel despite being minutes from the city centre.

The slope

Beginners

Nursery and trainer slopes with lessons make it a natural place to learn.

Intermediates

The main slope suits confident skiers and boarders working on technique.

Advanced

Popular with dry-slope racers and freestylers, though limited in length.

Experts & off-piste

Handy for keeping form rather than a genuine expert challenge.

Year-round dry-slope skiing

The dendix matting on Robinswood Hill means you can ski or board here any day of the year, whatever the West Country weather.
