The Mexico City Grand Prix runs 30 October–1 November 2026 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, a Metro ride east of the city centre.
The Mexico City Grand Prix is round 19 of the 2026 Formula 1 season, from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. The circuit sits inside the Magdalena Mixiuhca sports park on the east side of Mexico City. Formula 1 first raced here in 1963, and the race returned to the calendar in 2015.
The circuit
The 4.304 km lap sits more than 2 km above sea level, which formula1.com says makes it a breathless experience. The track still follows much of its 1959 outline. Its best-known section runs through a former baseball stadium, now the Estadio GNP Seguros. Grandstands rise on all sides there, and the podium ceremony takes place inside it.
The weekend
This is a standard weekend: two practice sessions on Friday, final practice and qualifying on Saturday, and the race on Sunday 1 November. Session times are on the formula1.com race page. In 2026 the race weekend falls on Día de Muertos, and the promoter has themed its hospitality around the ofrenda tradition.
Planning a trip
Mexico City is easy to combine with a race weekend. The circuit is inside the city, close to the international airport, and Metro Line 9 stops beside the gates. Most visitors stay in the central neighbourhoods and travel in each day. Formula 1 has confirmed the 2027 race for 29–31 October 2027, so if 2026 is too soon, you can plan a year ahead.
Highlights
- The stadium section: the track runs through the Estadio GNP Seguros, where grandstands surround the cars and the podium ceremony takes place (formula1.com).
- The main straight into Turn 1: one of the fastest stretches on the calendar, with grandstands at the braking zone (formula1.com; MexicoGP ticket page).
- Racing at altitude: the circuit sits more than 2 km above sea level (formula1.com).
- Día de Muertos: the 2026 race weekend falls on the Day of the Dead, and the promoter has built its hospitality around the ofrenda tradition (MexicoGP).
- A city circuit by Metro: Line 9 stations Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva and Puebla sit beside the access gates (MexicoGP).
Where to stay for Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix
The promoter's own accommodation guide suggests these areas:
- Roma Norte and Condesa: restaurants, bars and parks, with public transport connections to Metro Line 9 and the circuit. Good for evenings out after the track.
- Centro Histórico and Paseo de la Reforma: plenty of hotels and the main sights, with Metro access towards Line 9.
- Polanco: high-end hotels, museums and shopping. It's further from the circuit, so allow more travel time.
- The airport area: the promoter lists it among the closest areas to the Autódromo, handy for a short stay.
The promoter says hotel demand and prices rise over the race weekend. If you're travelling for the 2026 race, check availability before you buy race tickets or flights.

Getting there & around on event days
From the UK
Heathrow lists direct flights from London Heathrow (LHR) to Mexico City (MEX) with British Airways (Terminal 5) and Aeroméxico (Terminal 3). Mexico City International Airport (AICM) is in the east of the city, which is the same side as the circuit.
To the circuit on race days
- Metro: Line 9 (brown) is the main line. Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva and Puebla stations sit beside the access gates; use the station nearest the gate on your ticket. The promoter lists the Metro fare as MXN 5. It says the Metro runs 05:00 to midnight, opening at 06:00 on Sundays.
- Metrobús: Line 2, stops Iztacalco and UPIICSA, depending on your gate.
- Ticket2Ride: the promoter's private shuttle runs round trips from bases including Condesa, Santa Fe, Interlomas, Galerías Coapa, Perisur, Plaza Lindavista and Parque de los Venados. You need a ticket for each day. The promoter's page lists MXN 350 per person for a round trip, leaving at 08:00 and returning 30 minutes after the day's track action ends.
- Around the circuit: free perimeter buses with a blue windscreen sign link the gates from 07:00 to 20:00. Show your race ticket to board.
- Ride-hailing: Uber, DiDi, inDrive and Cabify all operate. The promoter warns that road closures and demand push up prices and waiting times after the race, and suggests walking a few streets away before booking a car.
Each ticket names an entry gate (Puerta), and you can only enter at that gate. Check the promoter's access table before you set off.

Tickets & entry
Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster México, which is the official channel the promoter names. Tickets are three-day passes covering Friday to Sunday. Each person can buy up to four, and children from age four need their own ticket. On 28 October 2026, the promoter's ticket page showed many grandstands as sold out (agotados), with a buy button still showing on some others.
The promoter warns that tickets carry security features against forgery, and it advises buying only through Ticketmaster. It also says that buying or selling tickets at the gates counts as resale (reventa) and is punished by arrest. Lost, stolen or damaged tickets aren't replaced, and there are no changes or refunds.
Formula 1 has confirmed 29–31 October 2027 for the next race; 2027 sales dates haven't been published yet.
Practical tips & etiquette
- Going this year? The race is days away. Check hotel availability and the official ticket page before booking flights, and buy tickets only from Ticketmaster México.
- Altitude: the circuit is more than 2 km above sea level. Drink water, use sun protection and take it easy on the first day if you've just flown in.
- Plan around your gate: tickets are tied to a zone and an entry gate. Work out the nearest Metro station before race day.
- Getting back: crowds and closures slow ride-hailing after the race. The Metro, Metrobús or a pre-booked Ticket2Ride return is usually simpler.
- What not to bring: the ticket terms ban drones. They also ban equipment for professional recording or broadcasting.
- Noise: F1 cars are loud, so ear protection is sensible, especially for children.
- Día de Muertos: the city celebrates the Day of the Dead over the race weekend. Expect busy streets and ofrendas around town.
Accessibility
The promoter sells a Zona Accesible, an area reserved for people with disabilities. Tickets for it are non-transferable, and on 28 October 2026 the ticket page showed it as sold out. The accessible area in the Green Zone (Zona Accesible Verde) is entered through Gate 7. The promoter doesn't publish further details, such as companion tickets or accessible parking. For those, contact the promoter through its contact page before you travel.
Safety & travel advice
The race is in Mexico City, which is outside the areas where the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all but essential travel. Those areas are in other states.
FCDO notes that political demonstrations are common in Mexico City, including protests against gentrification in central and tourist areas, and advises avoiding them. It warns that unlicensed taxi drivers have robbed passengers, including in Mexico City. Use regulated sitio taxis, a taxi your hotel orders, or authorised pre-paid taxis at the airport. FCDO also reports short-term express kidnappings in urban areas, so take care at ATMs. Earthquakes happen; FCDO mentions the 911 CDMX app, which can give early warning.
- Before you go, read the UK government's FCDO travel advice for Mexico (entry requirements, safety and local laws).
