  • Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

FCDO advises against travel here

FCDO advises against all travel to within 10 km of the border with Yemen and all but essential travel to the rest of Saudi Arabia, which includes Jeddah. It warns of missile and drone attacks, a heightened threat against airports including Jeddah's, and that further attacks, disruption and cancellations are very likely. Your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against FCDO advice.

While this advice stands we don't show hotel or flight booking links for this event. Travel advice can change at short notice (checked 29 October 2026): read the current FCDO advice before you book, and check that your travel insurance covers you.

▸ What it is

Round 2 of the 2027 season runs 19–21 March 2027 on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia.

Read this first: the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia, including Jeddah, because of missile and drone attacks, including on airports. While that advice stands, this page is for information only and doesn't suggest booking. The advice may change, so check GOV.UK before making any plans.

The Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is round 2 of the 2027 season. formula1.com lists the weekend as Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March 2027: two practice sessions on Friday, final practice and qualifying on Saturday, and the race on Sunday. 2027 session times are TBC. It is a night race under floodlights. The April 2026 race didn't take place: Formula 1 called it off because of the situation in the Middle East.

The Jeddah Corniche Circuit is a street circuit with some permanent sections on the Corniche, Jeddah's 30 km Red Sea waterfront. formula1.com describes it as the fastest street circuit Formula 1 has raced on, at 6.175 km with 27 corners and average speeds of around 250 km/h. For spectators it is a long, narrow venue strung along the shore, with grandstands, fan zones and giant screens; the promoter says the Jeddah Art Promenade and Marina sit next to the circuit and the Red Sea Mall is directly opposite. Formula 2, F1 Academy and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East also race over the weekend.

▸ What to expect

Highlights

  • The fastest street circuit on the calendar, according to formula1.com, with 27 corners along the Red Sea.
  • The banked Turn 13: formula1.com's pick for the best grandstand view.
  • Fan zones with rides, live music and a giant screen showing the race, open to all ticket holders, plus concerts on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Support races: Formula 2, F1 Academy and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East are included in the ticket.
▸ Where to stay

Where to stay for Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Because the FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia, we don't suggest booking while this advice stands. For context only:

  • North Jeddah and the Corniche: the circuit runs along the northern Corniche; the promoter says the Jeddah Art Promenade and Marina are next to it and the Red Sea Mall is directly opposite.
  • Al Balad: Jeddah's historic old town, which the promoter recommends for its 600-plus traditional buildings; further south, so race days mean a longer drive.
▸ Getting there

Getting there & around on event days

Getting there: Jeddah's international airport is King Abdulaziz International (JED). The FCDO lists Jeddah among places where airports face a heightened threat of attack, warns that further disruption and cancellations are very likely, and suggests anyone wanting to leave Saudi Arabia consider travelling by land to a neighbouring country and flying from there. British citizens need a visa or an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to visit; see the FCDO entry requirements.

On race days (from the promoter's latest FAQ; 2027 details may differ): every ticket comes with a vehicle parking permit, issued in the F1 SAGP app, for the car park nearest your seats, and free shuttles run from the car parks into the venue. General Admission parking is reached from Prince Sultan Street, with a shuttle to the circuit. Taxi and ride-hailing (Uber, Careem) pick-up points are at the General Admission parking, City Walk before midnight and C1 parking after midnight. The promoter recommends arriving early to avoid traffic and says routes will be posted on its site closer to the race.

▸ Tickets & entry

Tickets & entry

Tickets are sold only online, on the promoter's official site tickets.saudiarabiangp.com, in the F1 SAGP app and through the authorised resellers listed on its site. There are no ticket sales at the gates. All tickets are digital and delivered through the app; they aren't named and can be shared with family and friends in the app, but resale is strictly prohibited.

Children aged 2 and under get in free with General Admission and Grandstand tickets but have no seat and must be carried. The promoter's FAQ says tickets are refunded if the event is cancelled or postponed (you can use the ticket on the new date), or if you can't get a visa for reasons beyond your control, but travel and accommodation aren't compensated.

▸ Good to know

Practical tips & etiquette

Check the advice first: FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia, and your travel insurance could be invalidated if you go against that advice.

What you can't bring: the promoter lists weapons, alcohol and drugs; scooters, skateboards, Segways and bicycles; drones; folding chairs; glass, including perfume bottles; laser pointers; food and drink (except baby food); megaphones and gas horns; flags or banners larger than 2 x 1.5 m; professional cameras; and bags bigger than an average handbag or rucksack. Everyone is searched at the entrance.

On site: no alcohol is sold, there are no ATMs and no public Wi-Fi, and there are no lockers, so pack light. Cards and cash are accepted at sales points. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas of the fan zones, not in the grandstands. Camping isn't permitted. The promoter recommends comfortable shoes and says there is no specific dress code.

Noise: F1 cars are loud; ear protection is sensible, especially for children.

▸ Accessibility

Accessibility

The promoter says the circuit and its facilities are suitable for wheelchair users, with accessible toilets and an internal transport service. Wheelchair platforms are in Main Grandstand A and Central Grandstands A, C and D, so book seats there; companions need their own ticket and there are no disability discounts. There is dedicated parking and entry gates at each fan zone for people with disabilities (the designated car parks are matched to Saudi government disability car stickers). Guide dogs are allowed. Crutches are allowed, but the promoter warns it is a long walk. Ask the promoter via info@saudimotorsport.com or 9200 21023 before you travel.

▸ Safety & travel advice

Safety & travel advice

The FCDO advises against all travel to within 10 km of the Yemen border and all but essential travel to the rest of Saudi Arabia. It says the Houthis have launched missiles and drones at several locations in Saudi Arabia, that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was struck by a missile on 10 October 2026, and that there is a heightened threat against airports, ports and energy and military sites across the country, including in Jeddah. It also warns that terrorists are likely to try to carry out attacks in Saudi Arabia, and that public demonstrations are illegal. If you are already in Saudi Arabia, it advises following local authorities' instructions, signing up for FCDO email alerts and keeping your travel plans under review.
