Après & vibe

A full resort complex with hotels, dining, a water park and the floodlit Olympic ski-jump towers gives a lively, family-oriented atmosphere.

The snow centre

Alpensia is a modern, self-contained mountain resort in the Pyeongchang highlands of Gangwon province, best known as a hub of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, when it hosted ski jumping, biathlon, cross-country and the sliding events. Its downhill ski area itself is small and gentle — a handful of short, mostly beginner and intermediate slopes served by a lift or two — set within a large complex of hotels, a water park, golf and the landmark ski-jump towers. Snow is machine-supported to guarantee a dependable Korean winter season, and floodlit night skiing is part of the appeal. It suits families, first-timers and travellers combining skiing with the resort's wider facilities or an Olympic-legacy visit, rather than expert skiers chasing serious vertical.

The slope

Beginners

Gentle, wide slopes make it a strong choice for beginners and children.

Intermediates

A few blue runs give improvers room to build confidence.

Advanced

Limited challenging terrain given the modest downhill area.

Experts & off-piste

Not an expert resort; its fame rests on Olympic venues rather than steep pistes.

Olympic ski-jump legacy

The Alpensia ski-jumping stadium and other 2018 Winter Olympic venues stand at the heart of the resort, an enduring draw for visitors.

Night skiing at the resort

Floodlit slopes let guests ski into the evening, a staple of the Korean ski experience.
