Après & vibe

A full base-area resort with restaurants, cafes and lodging, lively into the evening for night skiers.

The snow centre

Jisan Forest Resort is a genuine outdoor ski resort in Icheon, in Gyeonggi province just south-east of Seoul, and one of the most convenient hills for a day or evening on the snow from the capital. It packs a spread of groomed runs and lifts into a modest, low-lying hill, with a strong focus on beginners, families and, especially, night skiing under the lights. The season is a cold, snowmaking-driven Korean winter rather than a long alpine one, but its proximity to Seoul and after-dark atmosphere make it a firm favourite. Out of season, the resort is well known for hosting a major summer music festival in its valley. It suits learners, families and city skiers wanting quick, easy access.

The slope

Beginners

A core strength, with gentle groomed runs and lessons.

Intermediates

Several blue-grade slopes to cruise and improve on.

Advanced

A few steeper pitches, though the vertical is limited.

Experts & off-piste

Not really an expert venue.

Night skiing near Seoul

Floodlit evening sessions are a signature draw, letting Seoulites ski after work within easy reach of the city.

Summer music festival

Out of ski season the resort's valley hosts a large annual music festival, a well-known fixture on Korea's summer calendar.
