O2 Resort (오투리조트) is a compact, family-friendly ski area set above the mining town of Taebaek in Gangwon province, near the crest of Korea's Taebaek mountains. Its stand-out quality is altitude: it has the highest base station of any Korean resort, which means it tends to catch the country's first snow and hold a season longer than lower rivals. The mountain is neatly designed for families and improving skiers, pairing straightforward pistes with a sledding hill and a children's park, and it stays notably quieter than the big-name resorts closer to Seoul. How to get there
Most international visitors arrive via Seoul's Incheon (ICN) and travel on by road or the KTX rail network; Yangyang (YNY) is the nearest regional airport but has limited service.
From Seoul it is a scenic multi-hour drive east into the Taebaek mountains, or rail to Taebaek followed by a short local transfer.
Best time: December through February, when its high, cold base delivers the season's most reliable snow.
