The snow centre
Nižepole is a modest but genuine ski area on the flanks of Baba Mountain, set inside Pelister National Park a short drive above the village of Nižepole and the city of Bitola. A couple of lifts serve a small spread of forested pistes, giving a calm, local atmosphere rather than a resort buzz. It typically operates from early winter into spring, though as a mid-altitude Balkan area the snow can vary from season to season. The setting — pine forest, the high Pelister peaks above and the Pelagonia plain below — is a large part of the appeal, and the area suits beginners, families and day-trippers from Bitola more than skiers seeking extensive terrain. In summer the surrounding national park is a fine base for walking.
