The resort
Rogla sits on a broad, high plateau of the Pohorje massif in north-eastern Slovenia, a setting of dense spruce forest and gentle contours that gives it an unusually snow-sure, sheltered character for a resort of modest altitude. The downhill runs are wide, well-groomed and largely easy to intermediate, making it a firm favourite with families and improvers, while an extensive network of cross-country loops has long made it a training base for Nordic athletes. Paired with the thermal spa resort of Zreče on the slopes below, it works as much as a wellness-and-snow break as a pure ski trip. The atmosphere is calm, green and family-oriented rather than high-octane.

Skiing & terrain
Broad, gentle plateau runs are excellent for first-timers and children.

How to get there
Ljubljana (LJU) is the main international gateway, around 90 minutes to two hours away; Maribor lies closer but has very limited flights, and Graz in Austria is another option.
A straightforward drive up from the Celje–Slovenska Bistrica corridor onto the plateau.
Best time: January and February bring the coldest, most dependable snow across the plateau.
