The snow centre
Tochal is a genuine high-mountain ski area on the Alborz range that rises straight above Tehran, and one of the highest ski resorts in the world by its top station. It is emphatically a real outdoor mountain, not an artificial centre: a long telecabin gondola carries skiers from the northern edge of the city up thousands of metres to a lofty base beneath the Tochal peak, where lifts serve open, high-altitude slopes. The experience is defined by that vertical journey and by sweeping views back over the vast capital far below. It draws Tehranis and visiting skiers rather than a big international resort crowd. At such height the snow season is long and the terrain airy, though weather at altitude can be severe.

How to get there
Tehran is the gateway; the gondola base is on the northern edge of the city, close to the capital's airports.
Reach the lower gondola station from within Tehran, then ride the telecabine up to the ski slopes.
