Formula 1 races at the Hungaroring, about 20 km from central Budapest, on 30 July–1 August 2027: practice Friday, qualifying Saturday, race Sunday.
The Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix is held at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród, a purpose-built circuit that formula1.com puts about 20 km from Budapest. formula1.com lists the 2027 race as Round 13, from Friday 30 July to Sunday 1 August 2027. It isn't a Sprint weekend: Practice 1 and 2 run on Friday, Practice 3 and Qualifying on Saturday, and the Grand Prix on Sunday. Session times for 2027 are still TBC.
Work on the circuit began in 1985 and the first Grand Prix was held in 1986, when Nelson Piquet won. The circuit says 2027 will be the 42nd Hungarian Grand Prix, and that it has been on the calendar continuously for 41 years. The 4.381 km lap has few straights and a string of corners, which formula1.com compares to a karting track, so overtaking is hard and track position matters.
For spectators, the key point is the setting: the track sits in a natural bowl, so formula1.com says grandstands on or around the main straight also give views of other parts of the circuit. The circuit has recently renewed its main building, main grandstand and event area, and says its fan experience won the 2025 F1 Promoter Award for Best Fan Experience. Your ticket covers every support race and track session as well as the fan zone and stage entertainment; the 2027 fan zone programme is still to be announced.
As a trip, the Hungarian Grand Prix pairs naturally with a stay in Budapest. Most visitors base themselves in the city, travel out to Mogyoród on race days, and fly in and out of Budapest Airport (BUD). The race falls at the height of summer, and formula1.com notes that Hungary at this time of year is usually hot.
Highlights
- A natural amphitheatre: the track sits in a bowl, so formula1.com says grandstands around the main straight look out over other parts of the circuit too.
- A twisty, technical lap: 4.381 km of linked corners and short straights that formula1.com likens to a karting circuit.
- More than four decades of history: the first race was in 1986, and the circuit counts 2027 as the 42nd Hungarian Grand Prix.
- All-access tickets: every ticket includes the support races, all track sessions, the fan zone and stage entertainment, according to the circuit's FAQ.
- An award-winning fan area: the circuit says its renewed event area helped it win the 2025 F1 Promoter Award for Best Fan Experience.

Where to stay for Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix
- Central Budapest (Pest side): the widest choice of hotels, restaurants and nightlife. Deák Ferenc tér is the city-centre end of the 100E airport bus, which helps on arrival and departure days.
- Elsewhere in Budapest: the circuit names the HÉV suburban railway and dedicated fan shuttle buses among its public transport options, and the regular 321 express bus runs from Budapest along the M3 to a stop at the Hungaroring, so a base with easy access to these routes cuts race-day travel.
- Near the circuit: Mogyoród and the surrounding towns are much closer to the gates but have far fewer rooms than the city; they suit people driving in.
- Hospitality packages: the official ticket shop sells the F1 Fan Lounge, with weekend access to a dedicated section of the Hungaroring grandstand and a food and drink buffet on Saturday and Sunday.

Getting there & around on event days
From the UK: fly to Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD). The airport's destination finder lists London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, East Midlands, Leeds, Newcastle and Edinburgh; check each airline for July 2027 schedules. British citizens can visit Hungary, part of the Schengen area, without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Under the EU's Entry/Exit System you may need to register your fingerprints and a photo at the border.
Airport to the city: the BKK Airport Express bus 100E runs around the clock between the airport and Deák Ferenc tér, via Kálvin tér. It needs an Airport shuttlebus single ticket (2,500 HUF when checked), which you can buy with a bank card on the bus's Pay&GO device or in the BudapestGO app. Bus 200E also runs 24 hours with an ordinary ticket.
On race days: 2027 race-day transport details aren't published yet. The circuit says a special traffic arrangement applies during the Grand Prix, with details on the race page nearer the time. From the circuit's current information:
- Public transport: the circuit lists the HÉV suburban railway and dedicated fan shuttle buses as race-weekend options. The regular Volánbusz 321 express bus runs on the M3 motorway between Budapest and Mogyoród, stopping at HUNGARORING.
- Taxi and car-sharing: the circuit has an official taxi partner and works with a car-sharing company; there's bicycle and scooter parking on site.
- Driving: from Budapest, take the M3 motorway to exit 20 and follow the signs through Mogyoród. Race tickets don't include parking. The official ticket shop sells Premium parking inside the circuit (2027 parking tickets not yet on sale); the circuit also has two free off-site car parks, which fill up, so arrive early. Private car parks nearby aren't run by the circuit; from outside parking, expect a 10–30 minute walk to the entrance.
There's no luggage storage at the circuit, so drop bags at your hotel before heading out from the airport.

Tickets & entry
Tickets are sold by the circuit's official ticketing partner, gpticketshop.hu, and the circuit's terms say all tickets must be bought from the promoter or that partner. 2027 tickets were on sale when checked on 29 October 2026, with many grandstands already sold out. General admission (standing, unnumbered) was €170 for the weekend or €155 for Sunday; grandstand seats are numbered and cost more. Prices are subject to VAT and other taxes.
Children aged 0–13 on the day need a Junior ticket, even babies and children sitting on a lap, and Junior tickets are sold only with an adult ticket. Tickets aren't issued in a name, so a weekend ticket can be used by different people on different days. They're electronic and emailed about 10 days before the race; you can show them on your phone. Tickets can't be cancelled, exchanged or refunded unless the event is cancelled.
The circuit prohibits reselling tickets without its and Formula 1's written consent, says tickets from other sources may be refused at the gate, and warns that unauthorised ticket vendors will be prosecuted. Tickets are sold at the venue only if the online sale doesn't sell out.
Practical tips & etiquette
What you can bring: a bag of up to 20 litres, up to 1 litre of drink per person and up to three sandwiches or the equivalent; free drinking water is available around the circuit. Not allowed: glass, cool boxes, chairs or seating of any kind, parasols, drones, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, laser devices, pyrotechnics and animals. Only small folding umbrellas are allowed, and not in the grandstands; flags must be on plastic poles. Cameras are fine for personal use if they fit in the 20-litre bag.
Paying: food and drink outlets take bank cards and Festipay prepaid cards only (top up at three points around the circuit, with unused balance refundable during the event). Merchandise stores and paid attractions also take cash in forints or euros.
Heat: formula1.com notes that Hungary is usually hot at this time of year. The circuit suggests a hat or cap for sun and a rain poncho for wet weather.
Noise and children: the circuit recommends earplugs during racing and hearing protection for children, plus a wristband with a parent's phone number. Strollers are allowed.
Medication: medicines and medical aids are allowed with the appropriate medical documentation; show them at the bag check to speed things up.
Luggage: there's no luggage storage at the circuit.
Public transport in Budapest: FCDO says to validate your ticket at metro station entrances and as soon as you board buses and trams, and to validate a new one each time you change.
Accessibility
The circuit says its renovated main grandstand has more than 100 wheelchair-accessible spectator spaces, catering units and the main entrance have accessible service counters, and a dedicated 100-space accessible parking area is provided during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The official ticket shop sells wheelchair tickets for the Hungaroring grandstand and the Pit Exit 1 grandstand, for the weekend or Sunday, with companion (attendant) tickets at the same price. Medical aids such as crutches, walking aids and mobility scooters are allowed with the appropriate medical documentation.
For accessible tickets and visitor questions, contact the circuit at info@hungaroring.hu or +36 28 444 444 (working hours), or see its accessibility page.
Safety & travel advice
The FCDO doesn't advise against travel to Hungary. It warns that pickpocketing and bag-snatching are common in Budapest, especially on busy public transport and at stations, that drinks have been spiked in some Budapest bars, and that some bars charge tourists inflated bills. Use official ATMs and reputable taxi companies. Always carry your passport, as police can ask for ID. In an emergency, call 112. At the circuit, bags can be searched at the entrance, and there's no re-entry after the event ends.
