Après & vibe

On-hill facilities offer rental, warmth and refreshments, with the town of Tukums and the city of Riga nearby for dining.

The snow centre

Milzkalns is a genuine outdoor ski and snowboard hill set in the gentle countryside near Tukums, west of Riga, and it ranks among the best-loved little areas in Latvia. The vertical is tiny, as everywhere in the flat Baltic, but a good spread of short slopes of varying difficulty and a busy fleet of lifts make it lively and welcoming for beginners, families and improving riders. Its snowpark is one of the most professional in the country, with features that evolve through the season, giving freestylers a real reason to visit. Snow is machine-supported and the season short, so it comes alive during cold Baltic winters. Close to Riga, it works best as an easy weekend or day trip.

The slope

Beginners

Plenty of gentle short slopes and lifts for first-timers and children.

Intermediates

Varied pitches to cruise and progress on for a day.

Advanced

The snowpark features are the main draw for stronger riders.

Experts & off-piste

No sustained expert terrain given the small vertical.

The Milzkalns snowpark

One of Latvia's most respected freestyle parks builds its jumps and rails up in difficulty as the season progresses, drawing snowboarders and freeskiers from across the Baltics.
