The snow centre
Mont des Brumes is a genuine little outdoor ski area tucked into the Liège province of the Belgian Ardennes, between Francorchamps and La Gleize. Its north-westerly aspect holds cold and snow better than most of the country, giving a proper red descent alongside a gentle nursery slope served by drag lifts. This is community-scale skiing rather than a resort: locals and families come for a few hours when the flakes fall, with equipment hire and a simple snack stop on site. Being low and Atlantic-facing, it is entirely at the mercy of the weather and only spins its lifts on natural cover. In recent mild winters openings have been brief and unpredictable, so it rewards those who can go at short notice.
