The snow centre
Ponikva is a genuine little mountain ski centre set on a wooded plateau in the Osogovo range of eastern North Macedonia, around 20 km north of the town of Kočani at roughly 1,300 to 1,650 metres. It runs a pair of ski slopes served by lifts, with night skiing under floodlights and snow cannons to help the natural cover, all pitched at families and skiers of all levels from beginner upwards. Surrounded by beech forest and quiet scenery, it is an easygoing winter getaway rather than a big resort, and in good snow years it hosts the traditional Osogovo Giant Slalom. As a modest mountain area, its season depends on winter snowfall backed by snowmaking.
The slope
Well suited, with gentle slopes and lifts for learning.
The longer of the two runs gives room to progress.
Limited by the small vertical.
Not an expert venue.
Osogovo Giant Slalom
In snowy seasons the centre hosts this traditional race, drawing skiers from across the region.
