Après & vibe

Modern mountain restaurants and cafes with family facilities rather than a nightlife scene.

The resort

Ravna Planina is a smartly developed little resort on the hills above Pale, barely twenty minutes from Sarajevo, which gives it an unusually easy-access feel for the Balkans. The pisted terrain is short and gentle, aimed squarely at families, beginners and improving intermediates rather than serious skiers, with the historic slopes of Jahorina close by for those wanting more. It has grown into a genuine year-round destination, adding zip-lines, a mountain adventure park and summer activities that keep it busy beyond the ski season. The mood is contemporary and family-oriented. At around 1,000 to 1,300 metres its snow is variable, so snowmaking is important.
