The resort
Vlašić is one of Bosnia's best-known mountains, a broad grassy plateau rising above the Ottoman-era town of Travnik and long celebrated for its sheep's cheese and clean highland air. The ski centre on its slopes is compact and unpretentious, with open, mostly gentle terrain that appeals to families, beginners and cruising intermediates rather than experts. It is a genuine year-round resort, busy with walkers and shepherds in summer and skiers in winter, giving it a lived-in Bosnian mountain-village feel. Prices are low and the mood friendly. Sitting well above 1,200 metres, it holds reasonable cover through the core of winter.

How to get there
Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ) is the main gateway, around an hour and a half to two hours by road.
