Après & vibe

The Mrakovica plateau has a mountain lodge and simple hospitality typical of a Bosnian national-park centre.

The snow centre

Skijalište Kozara is a genuine, if compact, mountain ski area on the Mrakovica plateau in the heart of Kozara National Park, above the town of Prijedor in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is real outdoor hill skiing rather than any artificial centre, with a main run and a shorter children's slope threaded through the park's pine and beech forest. It suits families, beginners and locals looking for an inexpensive day rather than experienced skiers after long descents. Floodlights allow evening skiing, and the surrounding national park adds walking, monuments and mountain-lodge atmosphere. At a fairly modest altitude the season is short and snow-dependent, so it is best treated as a weather-driven local outing.

The slope

Beginners

The children's run and gentle main slope make it a friendly place to learn.

Intermediates

The main piste gives a satisfying cruise for improving skiers.

Advanced

Limited challenge for stronger skiers.

Experts & off-piste

No dedicated expert terrain.

Skiing inside Kozara National Park

The slopes sit within a protected forested park near the Mrakovica war memorial, giving a day here as much scenery and history as skiing.

Floodlit evening sessions

The runs are lit for night skiing, extending a short winter's day on the mountain.
