Après & vibe
Facilities are basic and sport-focused; the town of Sjenica nearby provides simple lodging and food.
The snow centre
Žari is a modest ski centre high on the cold Pešter plateau near Sjenica, in the mountainous south-west of Serbia, better known as a Nordic and biathlon training base than an alpine destination. Its main asset is a cross-country and biathlon trail with shooting ranges, used for national competitions, alongside a short alpine slope on the flanks of Mount Koritnik for downhill turns. The high, exposed plateau is one of Serbia's coldest, snowiest corners, giving a genuinely reliable if remote winter. Facilities are simple and prices among the lowest in the country, and crowds are rare. Come for cross-country skiing, biathlon and quiet, affordable alpine practice far from the resort circuit.
The slope
A short alpine slope suits first turns; the plateau is also great for easy cross-country.
The downhill run gives improving skiers a modest descent.
Little alpine challenge; the appeal is Nordic and biathlon terrain.
No expert alpine pistes, but serious cross-country and biathlon training.
National biathlon centre
Žari serves as a Nordic and biathlon training base with shooting ranges, hosting national and regional competitions.
