Après & vibe
Low-key après centred on the town of Kolašin, with rustic konobas serving hearty Montenegrin mountain food and rakija.
The resort
Named for the altitude of its base, Kolašin 1450 is a modest, easygoing area on the wooded flanks of the Bjelasica range in northern Montenegro. It suits families, beginners and confident intermediates far more than experts, with broad, sunlit pistes carved through beech and spruce and a friendly, unhurried feel that stands in contrast to the crowded Alps. Snow tends to be reliable through the depths of winter thanks to the altitude and northerly aspect, though the season is fairly short and warm spells can soften cover. The historic spa and hiking town of Kolašin sits just below, giving the place a genuine year-round mountain-town character rather than a purpose-built one. It is one of the most rewarding budget ski trips in the Balkans.

Reasonably reliable in mid-winter given the altitude and shaded northern aspects, though the season is short and mild spells can thin the cover.

Skiing & terrain
Gentle, wide nursery and green runs make it a genuinely good place to learn.
Plenty of cruisy blues and reds through the trees to fill a few days.
Limited pisted challenge, but some steeper pitches and off-piste between the runs.
Little lift-served expert terrain; ski-touring on Bjelasica is the real draw.
Bjelasica panoramas
The upper slopes open to sweeping views across the Bjelasica peaks and the surrounding Dinaric ranges.
Kolašin old town
A characterful highland town with thermal-spa heritage, cosy guesthouses and traditional restaurants a short drive below the lifts.
