History & Heritage in Britain

Stone circles, Roman walls, castles and cathedrals

Britain wears its history in the open. Stonehenge predates the pyramids; Hadrian's Wall still runs the width of England; Edward I's Welsh castles and the abbeys of the Scottish Borders are ruins you can walk through; and York, Bath, Canterbury and Durham are cities built around the things that made them. There are 30-odd UNESCO World Heritage Sites on this island alone.
